The club has made a conscious decision to support all classes at each club round which may compromise track designs on occasions and we hope this did not detract from your view of the track. It certainly did not lessen the competitive nature you all attacked the jumps. We are considering running a “teach in” for one or two nameless people (oh what the heck, it was “Ned”) to stop you nose diving the double; “TWICE” (it costs too much repairing the holes you put in them). I’m pleased to report some really close racing in all finals with both of the top heats proving very competitive. We hope you enjoyed the day and that we see you all visit the club again in the not to distant future. Comments about improving the event are welcome and those todate have been noted for future reference. We will be talking to the school authorities about the venue in the near future, this hopefully will provide a slightly better venue for next year. A little disappointing is the lack of 2wd participants, following the interest last year and the close competitive racing we were expecting a few runners. See you all bright and early on Sunday morning. Late entries will be accepted on the day. 02-09-08 COBRA WSM Trophy Meeting For those that were able to attend the meeting the club would like to thank you for a great weekend. Track this year will include all the features of previous years (with a twist), hopefully a slightly higher rostrum will also help those of us who are height imparied (shorties to you and me!). We should also benefit from "Vanessa's Cafe" if we ask her nicely, to keep us fed and watered throughout the day. 20-08-08 COBRA WSM Trophy Meeting WSM Event planning is progressing well, entry list, after one or two hiccups is now complete. We are working hard to correct this. 21-07-08 COBRA COBRA Championship Rnd 5 The results and table for Round 5 have been updated and posted on the "Results Page". It looks like Brain is generating a substantial lead in the 2 wd class but he can't rest on his laurels as there are still two rounds left giving plenty of chance for the remainder of the entry to add to their scores. Dave Zerk and Spencer Farley have both built up a comanding lead in the 4wd class. The chasing few will need a bolt of lightning to snatch the title away from either of these in the last two rounds. 19-07-08 COBRA WMS Trophy Meeting Entry list updated, Nitro entries now near capacity (some entries need confirming so if it's YOU please get your entry form and money in ASAP). If there is enough interest we will try and get a heat for you to run. 21-06-08 COBRA Championship Rnd 3 Weather forecast looks good for tomorrow with the likelyhood being that we will miss the rain (hope I haven't put my foot in it now). Entry is even better with a total of 26 runners, equally split between 2 and 4 wheel drive. Plan to be trackside at 10:00/10:30am to lay the track, event has been updated in Championship Order, with only the entries on the day to add.
Vanessa is planning to have the kettle on early and food will be available through the day. 15-06-08 Heath Park Maintenance Thanks to Dave Snr & Jnr and eventually Brian (when he stopped talking) for turning up to day, to re-profile the "Rostrum Leap"; looks as if it will give some interesting photo opportunities. A couple of tree roots later and we are now able to use the top left corner when the grass take hold. Be gente with it Ned, the next time you cut the grass. 08-06-08 COBRA Competition What a great day we were blessed with today, don't let me hear anyone say it was too hot!!! (it was a bit). A really good turnout with 28 runners, the club must be doing something right with consistent entries now for the first two competition days. Spread the word if you enjoyed the day, everyone is welcome and the more entries the better the day. I hope you all enjoyed the track and the anticlockwise direction, we seem to be able to get an amazing amount track length in our plot of land with not a blade of grass left without those Shumacher Mini Spike tread marks. Results will be posted tomorrow along with the table to date. The next round is in two weeks time, hope to see you all then. 02-06-08 Club Day Results Club Day results have now been included on the "Reults Page" from the main menu. COBRA Outdoor Championship scheduled for next weekend hope to see you all there. 27-05-08 CHEPSTOW Show 30th/31st August 2008 We can confirm that COBRA will be running a "Two Day Event" in conjunction with MSW Ltd who are organising the Wales Modified and Motorsport Show at Chepstow Racecourse over the weekend of 30th / 31st August 2008 (Show Flyer). The event will be open to both 1/10th Electric and 1/10th & 1/8th Nitro Buggies. The space allocated allows for a proposed track area of 700 sq mtr, with a straight of 35 mtr planned with adjacent camping / pitting. Entry form will be released in the near future outlining the event and will include details of the show and camping facilities. Evening entertainment is also planned for Saturday night by the organisers. We are also proposing a space for an information stand which we hope will be manned by BRCA representatives to further promote the RC Sport. We are also in discussions to also promote a "come & try" area utilising micro scale RC Cars. 12-05-08 COBRA Outdoor Championship 2008 Great turnout with a total of 22 drivers participating. Severl runners deciding to also take the opportunity to try their Micro's on grass for the first time and what a surprise, they were fast, controllable and great fun. Keep an eye open for a Micro Championship in the near future.
Back to the Championship, the EGM called to ratify the rules was held during the break and the updated rules are now posted on "Club Info". Take a look for next time to ensure you run in the class you want.

Entires will be taken on the day as usual but if you are intending to race put your name on the forum to let everyone know. All existing and new club members are invited to compete (so go out and get that 1/10th Buggy; you know you want to) Visitors are always welcome to race. I've asked a few to bring their 1/18th Buggy's along to give them a go, so if you fancy a couple of runs to see how they perform then just turn up on the day.
We expect it to be a resonable day weather wise so with the good entry it should be a good day. Track will be laid on the morning and we intend to get there between 10:00/10:30. Track designs for the competition are being prepared, I'll try and publish design for the first round by Saturday (please accept my apologies if I fail to make it). Designs will be published for all other rounds by the Thursday prior to the event.
Don't foget that we are holding the EGM at approx mid-day, to ratify the rules for the comp so if you want to have your say but can't race on the day you need to be there for the meeting. 29-04-08 EGM 11-05-08 An EGM has been called to ratify the Outdoor Competition Rules for 2008. A grand total of 30 people competed in the championship through the year with a total of 16 drivers competing in 10 or more finals. Tremendous support again this year for the competition. In addition to the championship runners we also welcomed visitors running 1/18th & 1/10th Buggies and Saloons drivers running non championship tyres, practicing on the large track layouts.
Congratulations to all runners in the championship.
We would also like to invite you all back next week for the L8 COBRA Challendge Trophy, our last indoor event of the season (all entry fees being donated to Kidney Research) 04-04-08 UKMicroX Report UKMicroX report has now been released and a link has been added to the "REPORTS" section accessed from the main menu on the front page of the website. You can also link to all the photo's from the UKMicroX site. Have a look at the report and a quick scan of the photo's, you never know you might see yourself!!! 31-03-08 COBRA Outdoor Season Our outdoor seson is fast approaching and with track preparations have started. Storage has been a major headache for us over the years but with some excellent negotiating skills, Ned has blagged us a staroage unit to beat all storage units. I'm sure there are still some "nutters" out there that will try and destroy it but it is the best we've had. Well done Ned!! Championships this year will follow similar lines to last year with several rounds being run through the season. Motors and batteries will follow BRCA principles, except due to numbers we will combine 2 & 4 wd classes. We will also get the opportunity to race against non club members as the Championship is open to all members of the WRCA. We will be discussing support for the championship with suppliers in the coming weeks. 31-03-08 BRCA Micro National I'm pleased to announce that COBRA will be hosting the opening meeting of the 2008/2009 BRCA Micro season on 7th September, with 7 rounds in total this should be an interesting championship to follow. Hopefully we will start the Championship with a "bang". Full minutes of the AGM are yet to be issued but the main interest for most is that there will be two classes this year, 2wd & 4wd. Brushed and brushless mtors will run together with a battery voltage limit of 7.4 volts, if Lithium cells ae used than safety cut offs must be fitted and used. 20-03-08 UKMicroX Results Results page now includes UKMicroX Practice (round 1), Heats (rounds 2 to 5) and Finals.
Heat 1 results indicate 6 rounds as (due to computer error) round 2 had to be re-run. 17-03-08 UKMicroX Well what a DAY! For me quite an experience, from initial contact with Cris Oxley & Bill Pier from UKMicroX, through to leaving the hall with just the door to close to vacate the site. Saying thank you, to all those who have helped put on this event would not do justice. As in the past, we have such a good crew of people with different skills; that events like the FTX Welsh Micro GP & UKMicroX are seen as a credit to all the COBRA members and the effort that they have put in. New to our list of helpers are Cris, Bill and James in preparing the track on the Saturday night (although I did notice that it was only James who worked up a sweat). A special thanks, must be given to Cris and Bill for having the confidence to bring the UKMicroX Event to COBRA and we hope to see you at COBRA again and finally to all those that travelled (all 70 drivers) to make the event as good as it turned out. As a club we are novices organising events of this size so feedback, good or not so good is essential to ensure that the next event is even better. Whilst nobody likes criticism and we are no different, we welcome your comments and hopefully following this event you will be encouraged to visit again. Already we’ve learnt we need sugar free drinks for the juniors, those journeys home, must have been wild having been fed on fizzy drinks all day; xray glasses available for those nervous of the “blind faith” tunnel (but what a feature, thumb control, speed awareness, preparing for entry and exit to the tunnel were all tested) and not to forget the carpet glue to keep those kickers in shape. Thank you all. Roy Davies COBRA 09-03-08 L8 COBRA Trophy Challenge Meeting The meeting was intended as a "Saloon Class Only" however following interest from several people about running Buggies and Micros we've decided to open up the meeting to other classes. Whilst we hope to have a more detailed report in the near future to post on the Website the following points may be of interest. Main Committee position changes as follows; Chairman - Bob Williams, Vice Chairman - Hywell Mills who also retains the position of BRCA Rep, Secretary - Dell (from Swansea apologies I'm not sure of her surname), Paul Knight - retains his position as Treasurer. The outgoing Chairman Craig Harris retains his position as 1/10th Electric Rep, Vanessa Zerk - Electric and winter competition Rep., Mike Guliford (apologies if this is incorrect spelling) 1/8th Nitro Rep. Following main proposals were resolved. Regional events would be restructured to two events; one in the East and one in the west. Entry fee would be £10 per entry per class. Affiliated Club activity (of any format) would not take place on the Regional date. Regional dates fixed at 18th May & 13th July 2008. Roy Davies COBRA Chairman 29-01-08 COBRA Indoor Competition 2008 Results have now been updated for Round 4, report should be completed and posted in the next few days. No pictures I'm sorry as we did not have any "David Bailey's" present on the day. 26-01-08 FTX Welsh Micro Grand Prix - Update I'm pleased to confirm that the BRCA Micro Scale Chairman, Cris Oxley, who was recently crowned as the BRCA’s first ever Micro Scale Modified Champion has entered the FTX event. It's great to see such support for our first venture into the "Micro Scale" scene and hope his enthusiasm rubs off on a few other National runners. I't's also good to see an increase in local support for this event, keep those entries coming in!!
I can also confirm that both the FTX and the UKMicroX has gained substantial support in the magazines with impressive adverts appearing in the March eddition of Radio Race Car International, if you haven't got your copy yet go out and buy one.
Entry forms for both events can be found in "CLUB INFO" from the menu bar of this site. 21-01-08 COBRA Indoor Competition Results table update and posted in the "Results" to include round four. FTD by Tom Graham and good 1st Final win; Spencer Farley had a great run in the second final to win. Report and complete reults should be posted by the end of the week. 20-01-08 COBRA Comp, FTX Welsh Micro GP & UKMicroX update COBRA Competition day today and what a day! nearly as much rain indoors as out but hopefully that didn't spoil the day. After a frustrating start with the introduction of the new transponders things seemed to have sorted themselves but round 2. Both Brian and Ned will not need to visit the barbers for several weeks if the tufts of hair around race control is anyhting to go by. Several faces missing today but racing was nevertheless close, good runs throught he day by Tom, Spencer and Dave. Report will be completed in the next few days, so keep checking the site. Not to many "David Baileys" today, hopefully Daves' photos have come out OK.
A quick note on the Micro drivers present today. Hopefully the limited "offroad" features didn't spoil your day, thanks for the feedback on the new jumps we'll try and use your comments as we complete the build. Thank You.
